In a message shared on his official Facebook page, José Maria Neves revealed that he had learned of the death of his friend during a recent trip to the island of Brava, a news report that caused him to feel a deep sense of loss.

The friendship between the two was marked by regular meetings in the town of Furna, where João Domingos lived.

In his publication, José Maria Neves recalled that visiting the home of João Domingos was a tradition that he always maintained whenever he traveled to the island of Brava.

“On my recent trip to the island of Brava, I felt a deep emptiness upon learning of the passing of my friend João Domingos, whose home, in Furna, was a must-see whenever I went to the island,” he wrote.

The President of the Republic also recalled the moments of friendship and togetherness, particularly the conversations and bursts of laughter that they shared over the years.

“I cherish with great affection the memories of our conversations and laughter, without imagining that our last meeting would be a farewell,” she added.
